Mimicry VPN is a lightweight VPN client. You connect using a configuration provided by your server operator — there are no accounts and nothing to sign up for.
Get a connection configuration from your server operator first — as a file or a QR code. The steps differ slightly between platforms.
Mimicry runs in the menu bar — there is no Dock window. Its icon appears at the top right of the screen; click it to open the app. On first launch it shows a short notice about what happens to your data.
The Mac app has no QR scanner — configurations are pasted or opened from a file instead.
If your operator sent you a QR code, ask them for the same configuration as text or a
.json file.
If the kill switch is enabled, all traffic outside the tunnel is blocked by design. Disconnect from within the app — this always lifts the block, even when the tunnel itself is unresponsive. On iPhone and iPad open Mimicry and tap Disconnect; on a Mac click the Mimicry icon in the menu bar and press Disconnect.
Mimicry is a client app: it doesn’t come with bundled servers. Use the configuration from the person or organization that invited you, or run your own server.
No. The app has no accounts, analytics, ads, or third-party SDKs, and nothing is sent to the developer. See the Privacy Policy for details.
